AEZ Greeters 2008
GET READY FOR 2008! IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN!
We’re preparing for the AEZ 2008 Village Greeter shift! This year our village Greeter shift will be Wednesday August 27th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join us – please sign up below. We need at least 20 to 30 AEZ Greeters this year. More than 30? Even better! Last year there were 12 Greeters kiosks at the front gates. This year there will be 15 Greeters kiosks to facilitate the movement of traffic into the city.
Anyone in the AEZ village is welcome to join us. Just bring your fab self, a big smile and be ready to welcome your playa family home. Please either e-mail Jo (gomobyjo@yahoo.com), or stop by “animist misfits camp” #52 (located behind the Mayor’s camp) in the AEZ village and let her know if you’d like to be an AEZ Greeter.
What a fantastic experience this is! Whether it’s people returning home to their desert city or newbies in total awe, your shining face will be the one officially welcoming them through the gates to Black Rock City. It’s just great fun! It’s a big smile, a welcome-home hug, an invitation to ring the virgin’s bell and roll in the dust, and almost anything else you can do to welcome the masses to their 2008 Burning Man experience. We will get the up-to-date scoop on the current playa need-to-know from our official Greeter Camp liaison when we all arrive at the Greeter’s Station behind the front gates for our shift. We’ll plan to meet at the Mayor’s Tent on Wednesday about 3:00 pm (playa ‘ish’ time) before our village shift at 4:00. Those that wish to can ride their bikes en possee to the Greeter’s Station. They ask us to be at the Greeter’s Station by 3:45 pm.
Afternoon & early evening shifts always seem to be a bit on the windy side. Depending on the temperment of the weather gods, there may be white-out/dust-out conditions at times. Please bring your goggles or protective eyewear, a good dust-mask or cloth to cover your nose & mouth – and plenty of water. Although water, shade (and porta-potties) are provided, it’s a good idea to come prepared. There is a shaded area that you can sit and take a break, grab a cool drink and chill for a bit if you need to.
Anyone in AEZ is welcome to join us, but if you add your name to the list please also e-mail Jo at gomobyjo@yahoo.com. If you have any questions or concerns, you may also e-mail Jo – or stop by ‘animist misfits’ camp #52 in AEZ. If you’d like to read more about the Greeter’s mission, check out: http://greeters.burningman.com/manual.html.
See you all VERY SOON!!
